Z DEVOTION: False Balance

A FALSE BALANCE

“A false balance is an ABOMINATION to the LORD.” Proverbs 11:1

The word “BALANCE” in the Hebrew is from the root word “azan” with the idea of the scales being two ears = to hear, to listen, to ponder or to give good heed.

Each day I am confronted by different theologies (the study of God and the supernatural) but I see man going off on numerous side-roads in their studies.  One will methodically formulate the acts of God and another will say that PRAISE is the source of power with God.   Another will map out all the errors in teachings.  The fact of the matter is that they all hold in their hands a GRAIN of TRUTH but I often times see PRIDE take over and they think they see the WHOLE TRUTH.

Jeremiah 9:23-25 says, “Thus says the LORD, Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches; but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows ME, that I am the LORD who exercises loving kindness, justice and righteousness on the earth; for I delight in these things, declares the LORD.  Behold the days are coming, declares the LORD, that I will punish all who are circumcised and yet uncircumcised.”

The WHOLE TRUTH is that God desires a broken and contrite (collapsed physically or mentally) HEART. Psalm 51:17

David prayed, “Create in me a clean heart, O GOD” as well as “Search me, O GOD, and know my heart; try me and know my thoughts, and see if there be any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.”  Psalm 51:10 and Psalm 139:23-24

1 Corinthians 8:1-2 says, “Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. And if any man thinks that he knows anything, he knows  NOTHING.”  YES, the LORD says that if we seek HIM, we will find HIM when we search for HIM with ALL our heart (Jeremiah 29:13) but we must always remember that this pilgrimage is a walk of FAITH and no matter how much we have of the knowledge of God that the BALANCE is that GOD IS GOD !

“I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever; nothing can be put to it, nor anything taken from it;  and God doeth it;  that men should FEAR before HIM.” (Ecclesiastes 3:14)  “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the LORD, and HE will have mercy upon him: and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:-9)

“Let God be true and every man a liar.” (Romans 3:4)
